The company's history on the occasion of the 100th anniversary in 2006
100 Years of BECKLooking forward to the future with confidence in the special competence of the employees. On the occasion of our company anniversary, here are a few essential milestones that have strongly influenced theory and action at BECK: August Beck, one of these legendary "tinkerers", who completed his apprenticeship alongside Robert Bosch at Gottlieb Daimler, founded a mechanical workshop in 1906 in Ebingen which worked mainly on machine repairs for the local textile industry. It was only in 1910 that a slot drill for wood machining was developed which formed the beginning of an independent product programme. ![]() August Beck GmbH & Co. KG in Winterlingen in the year 2006 In 1919, the decision was made to focus on precision tools when the manufacture of reamers for metal machining was started. 1925, August Beck relocates to Winterlingen. 1939 - August Beck dies on 19.12.1939 following a fulfilled and successful life. In 1953, after the turmoil of the Second World War and a difficult time following the war, BECK includes reamers and countersink tools (carbide tipped and made from solid carbide) in the manufacturing programme as pioneering products and additionally expands the programme with multi-chamfer stepped tools. 1981 - On the occasion of the 75th company anniversary, the product programme is rounded off initially with single blade reamers with a reversible carbide tip. 1995 - The development of the multiple-edge high-performance reamer made from carbide and Cermet pushed the company forwards so that in 2002 the new Factory 2 for hard machining of carbide, Cermet, PCD and CBN tools could be opened.
2004 - The takeover of the company by MAPAL Dr. Kress KG from Aalen in 2004 ensured the future existence of the company. However, Beck still continues to be independent following the takeover; Beck continues to develop and manufacture its own products and sell them via their own sales structure. Over the last few years, Beck has gained a good reputation as a system supplier for the fine machining of bores. The typically Swabian virtues of creativity, diligence, thriftiness, perseverance and the ability to follow multiple targets consistently have contributed decisively to this reputation. With the help of around 200 employees, a high-quality programme of precision tools is manufactured on state-of-the-art, automated production lines at plants in Winterlingen and Harthausen.
