Optimization of process costs in new dimensions with the high performance reamer “HNC-Speed”

Reaming with extremely high cutting values means extensive economies of machining times and costs for our customers. BECK can supply the suitable tools: Solid carbide high performance reamers with coating and inner coolant supply, a further version of the HNC line.

The optimal utilization of the coating properties and the direct cooling at the cutting edges permit these high cutting values and lead to an enormous extension of tool life. The reamers are available in through hole and blind hole execution.

In principle solid carbide reamers stand for a wide range of applications which is considerably extended by the coating. This means a large increase of economic efficiency and cost savings.

In connection with extremely high cutting speed excellent surface quality and optimal round bores with exact fit were achieved: important tool life criterions for the fine machining.

A further essential advantage is the extensive stock respectively short delivery times, also of intermediate diameters and special tolerances.

Reaming in stainless steel – BECK has the solution!

Stainless steels known under such common terms as V2A or V4A, Nirosta, etc. are mostly distinguished by their chemical stability. For this reason they are primarily used in the food and pharmaceutical industries, process engineering and in vehicle construction. High proportions of added chrome and nickel lead to the formation of carbide, strain-hardening and high ductility. In the field of fine machining of bores, these properties present a great challenge for the tool with regard to wear resistance and ease of cutting.
BECK has taken on this challenge and developed a reamer tool which can process these types of stainless steel with the best results.

The new HNC reamer from BECK, a solid carbide reamer with an internal coolant supply, form the basis here. An optimized tool is created from a semi-finished part thanks to the combination of fine-tuned geometric elements and a special coating. The reamer is used in hydraulic expansion chucks, shrink chucks as well as compensation adapters in order to reduce the system-related radial run-outs.

The tools are supplied within 14 days. This short delivery time is an essential plus point. BECK has warehousing standards it can fall back on that form the basis of such services.
The reamers can be reground several times, i.e. the maximum exploitation of acquisition costs is guaranteed. In particular, you can count on consistent quality due to the reconditioning work at BECK. The BECK regrinding service reconditions tools within a few days and sends them back on time. This ensures problem-free production processes.

Reaming tools for the hard machining of bores

The fine machining of bores places extremely high demands on surface quality and dimensional accuracy. The precision boring of hardened materials used to be the domain of procedures using a geometrically indefinite cutting edge, such as grinding or honing. The new tool solutions from Beck are designed to perform effectively these machining tasks at a defined allowance up to a hardness of approx. 63 HRC using reaming tools.

BECK has advanced its multiblade solid carbide reamer HNC for this purpose. The tool is provided with a special cutting geometry and receives an appropriate coating for the hard machining. In order to reduce the thermal load of the component and to cleanly transport the incidental chips out of the bore, wet machining is recommended. The tools convince you through their cost effectiveness and unproblematic handling. In the diameter range of 4 – 20 mm BECK has stocked blanks and therefore tools designed to user specifications can be delivered on short notice.

All elements like cutting geometry, tool holding fixtures and cutting parameters are coordinated by our technical service. So the full achievement potential of coated tools can be used for the hard machining.

Optimal machining results with BECK solid Cermet reamers

In order to enlarge the varied range of multiblade reamers and to adjust to the modern production processes, BECK has incorporated a new solid Cermet reamer HCS with internal coolant supply into its product range.

Cermet is a sintered compound made of ceramic particles in a metallic binder (CERamic-METal) based on TiC and TiN as hard materials and Ni and Co as binder. It has low thermal conductivity, high elevated-temperature hardness and a low friction coefficient against steel. Moreover, it is significantly harder than carbide.

The BECK solid Cermet reamer HCS is provided with an optimized cutting geometry. The extremely unequal cutting edge spacing provides for optimal round bores with an exact fit and reduces vibrations. The reamers are suitable particularly for machining steels as well as GGG materials, because there is no formation of built-up edges when machining with Cermet. Here, in comparison with carbide tools, significantly higher cutting values can be realised and outstanding surface finishes are nonetheless achieved (Rz < 2 µm). Because the rounding of the cutting edges is extremely low, the tool life is also considerably higher. The short design makes the reamer especially stable.

The tools can be supplied on short notice, because BECK is stocking an extensive number of blanks. In addition, they can - like all multiblade reamers - be reground several times, which substantially increases their cost-effectiveness.
